Registration 9-10 am SBX/SKierX,& Halfpipe
SBX/SkierX Practice-Course Inspection, SLIP COURSE, 9-10:15 am
Rider's Meeting 10:30 am, Race starts at 10:45 am 3 runs for small heats of 4 per age group or Heats for age groups over 4 participants single elimination
Halfpipe
Open Practice all morning
Rider's Meeting 1:30 pm or 30 minutes following SkierX/SBX completion
Comp begins immediately following Rider's meeting

Saturday, Feb. 11 2-4 PM and he will be coaching you for Halfpipe contest on Sunday!

VALMALENCO, Italy (March 15) – U.S. Snowboarding has selected 24 riders to represent the USA in the 2011 FIS Junior World Snowboard Championships in Valmalenco, Italy. The Championships are scheduled for March 29 – April 3.

The Mack Brother's, Kyle and Big "D", swept the field this past week at the Winter Gatorade Freeflow Tour at Brighton Resort, UT! Kyle taking 1st in Halfpipe way ahead of the field with 80 points! Big "D" stomping his halfpipe run and taking 1st in Halfpipe out away from his Jr. Field with 78.75 points! Big "D" taking yet another 1st in the Jr. Jam Railjam! NICE WORK Mack Brother's!

They will go on to compete in the Finals at Snowbasin, UT this weekend! REPRESENT!

Birmingham, MI - Otsego Ski Club, Michigan’s only private ski club in Gaylord, Mich., Planet Snow Design, the world’s premier designer of snowboarding terrain parks, Middle Earth and many more sponsor's will host the 2010 Rail Jam & Skateboard Event. This premier skating event will be held on location at Don Thomas Sporthaus in Birmingham (690 S. Old Woodward), on September 25, 2010.

The Rail Jam event, which will feature professional boarders and skiers, is also open to any snowboarder, skier or skating aficionados, who want to showcase their talents on the unique Otsego Club’s 34-foot bowled mini-ramp. The event, which is open to the public, will begin at 11:30 a.m. with registration and practicing and the competition will start at 1:30 p.m. and go until it is finished.

The competition is open to the first 50 participants to sign-up. The competitors will also compete on a custom 15-foot rail for a series of prizes, including ski passes to the Ostego Ski Club and its world-class terrain park, the “O-Park.” Helmets and pads are required to compete and participants under 18 years of age must have a signed waiver from a parent or guardian. Spectators and members of the media who attend will get a sneak peak at some new terrain park offerings Otsego Ski Club will be unveiling for the upcoming winter. Included among the offerings and also on display will be their new 22-foot half pipe machine that Planet is bringing to The Otsego Ski Club. This new half-pipe, one of only five of this size in north America, played host as a training ground to the best riders in the world as they prepared for the 2010 Olympics.

All attendees will also have the opportunity to win a one-year membership to the Ostego Club in a drawing. Registration for the drawing is open from 1-3 p.m. and the recipient must be present to win.

Ski Season isn't over 'til Ty Wellman says so!

Ty Wellman will travel to Cardronna Resort-New Zealand to REPRESENT!
2010 FIS Jr World Championships will take place Aug 20-31st.
It is the first ever where both Freestyle ski and snowboarders will share the same stage at a World Championship.
Ty Wellman will launch in the Halfpipe August 29th, the highest level of competition will be present and Ty
has his mental and physical game in tact and ready for the challenge. Kill IT out there TY!

Please join us at a fundraiser dinner and silent auction- scheduled at Sammich-N-Sudz restaurant in Boyne City from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, to raise money for Wellman to go to the games and help him compete in other contests throughout the winter months. Donations will be accepted at the door.

OUR HOMETOWN BOY Danny Davis will make a full recovery!

By the time you read this most likely you will know that our hometown boy Danny Davis is tragically in a hospital bed recovering from back surgery. He was injured in an ATV accident on Sunday. It's taken me until now to even be able to write about this....the middle earth family, my own family are simply devastated! We are hopeful after hearing from Danny's family that he will have a full recovery. His mom put my mind at ease when she said, "he heals strong!" That is the Danny we all know and love! He is an amazing athlete, loyal friend, and our hometown hero!

Your positive energy, thoughts and prayers for Danny and his family are so much appreciated!

It was the typical east coast day in Vermont, the sky was overcast, the air brisk, could not have been any closer to MICHIGAN weather! That was working for our Middle Earth Betty Shredder, Karly Piper Shorr!

After finishing 6th place in the halfpipe yesterday Karly had her sights on going BIG! She set out in warm-ups on the medium jump line and after one pass she did what she does best-GO BIG!

She surprised herself as she hit the BIG line in practice! Felt pretty much like home--so she stepped it up to make the finals! Going into her first run of finals she was dialed! Karly charged the first set of rails caught her edge and was met with disaster! She bounced back quickly and went on to finish strong. First run of the finals was a wash! Karly stepped it up on the second run and gave it everything she had but keeping it safe-- going into the rail section it was Front board on flat box, gap to down flat down street rail, 50/50 street barrel rail burly! She crailed her first jump into her very own "Karly" style Stiffy jump! When asked how big were the jumps and how high did you go she responded: "IDK! They were huge and super high! It was my safe run bc I fell on my 1st run!"

Karly Piper Shorr, Matt Brengman and "OD" aka Oliver Dixon are competing today at the first stop of the USSA Revolution Tour at Mt. Snow, Vermont! Wishing them Big AIR & Stomped Landings! Karly qualified and went on to the finals finishing in 6th place and OD finished 22nd in Halfpipe! Well done Michiganders! Snowboarder Danny Davis on his near-perfect run

Not one, or two ... but three double corks.

Snowboarder Danny Davis had a run for the ages on Wednesday afternoon in winning the men's halfpipe Grand Prix event at Mammoth. (Kelly Clark won the women's halfpipe, qualifying for the Olympics, which will be her third.)

Race announcers are often given to hyperbole, but Davis' ride was being called the greatest run in snowboarding history.

No one was arguing.

And his first run wasn't bad, either.

Shaun White finished second behind Davis and Scott Lago was third.

"It'll just help me because I haven't been landing that run much." Davis said. "Haven't been running it or landing it at all. It's just nice to put it all together.

"I haven't landed it in weeks. I've been struggling with it. Perfect timing. Exactly."

The finish area was dotted with signs and tributes to injured snowboarder Kevin Pearce. At the awards' ceremony, Davis held up a sign, saying: "Pearce Be With You."

Pearce, who suffered a head injury in a training run at Park City, Utah last month, had been in critical condition and remains in intensive care. His status was upgraded to serious later on Wednesday.

Earlier Davis was asked if it had been difficult to get back out there after his close friend's accident.

"It was more just difficult to just not have him out there riding with us," Davis said. "I know he wants us to just get back to our thing. And he'd be pissed if we sat on the couch and we were like, 'I can't snowboard anymore. I feel (bad) about it.' He'd want us out there doing our things.

"There's not much you can do when someone is in his position. The only thing you can do is just do what he would want. And he'd want us to ride well."

And something else.

Davis added, smiling: "Mostly I'm really sure he'd want us beat Shaun White. I'm glad we could do that."

Otsego Club Hosts “Opening Day” in a Big Wintertime Way

Gaylord, MI – Opening to the public for the first time in 60 years, the Otsego Club in Gaylord, Michigan is preparing for a big turnout during their opening weekend, as they host an eclectic mix of wintertime sports and entertainment on December 19-20, 2009.

The Otsego Club, the oldest private ski club and resort in the United States, is widely known for its beautiful surroundings, exclusive benefits, and perfect snow conditions. Over the last two years, the resort has been quietly building what has now become the best all-mountain terrain park in the Midwest.

Designed and built by Planet Snow Design, the newly branded “O Park” boasts over 50 rail and jib obstacles, extensive terrain features for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, and most notably a new 22-foot “Monster Pipe.” This Olympic sized half-pipe is one of only a handful in the nation, which has already attracted the attention of the US Olympic Snowboard Team along with several international teams who will be using the Otsego Club as their North American training ground to prepare for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Before the nation’s best snowboarders get a chance to experience the newly upgraded, and critically acclaimed “O Park”, the Otsego Club will be opening its doors to anyone with skis or snowboard and a lift ticket.

In addition, the Otsego Club will be hosting a slope-style snowboard event put on by Middle Earth Snow Series. The event will be open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages and feature prizes from big name snowboard companies like K2, Lib Tech, GNU, Rossignol, and many more. The signup fee is $10.

If that wasn’t enough, Otsego Club guests can try out their new “snowskate park” just outside the Otsego Lodge; and if snowboarders get too cold but still want something to do they can step inside the Otsego Resort and skateboard in their 24’ x 34’ indoor mini-bowl.

Finally, aside from all the fun and excitement of their skiing and snowboarding events, the Otsego Club will also be hosting the 2009 Canadian Snocross Can-Am Challenge. As part of the International Series of Champions (ISOC) Michigan Regional Tour, the Can-Am Challenge will serve up some of the best snowmobile racing Michigan has to offer.
